I absolutely love homemade playdough (here’s my favorite homemade recipe). For each of the seasons I love adding in some fun things to make the dough different and more exciting. When possible I also love to add in sensory items to the dough.
One of my new favorite things to do is to add essential oil into the dough.
This week, Ellie and I were learning all about the color purple and I thought it would be the perfect time to add in some lavender essential oil.
I made my usual playdough, and added in some purple gel food coloring as it was heating… as you can see in true wingitmom fashion I was still frantically adding red as it was cooking because the bright purple food coloring looked SO BLUE at first.
Once it was all the way cooled, added in 3-4 drops of the lavender oil and mixed it in well.
Ellie has loved the floral scent, and I love how calming it is. She said even her Mario buddies love it 🙂 hehe.
I’m already thinking of some of my other oils to add into my oils, especially as the summer is coming and we’re thinking of warm and tropical places!
I use the DoTerra Lavender essential oil because it’s what we use here in our home and it has a wonderful scent and we’ve enjoyed other benefits of it in our home as well.
